The department is a growing community of scholars with an emphasis on research-oriented teaching. Faculty contribute to national and international conferences and journals, and graduates go on to power companies, IT services, public sector undertakings, the armed forces and Indian Engineering Services. The B.Tech. programme has been accredited five times in succession by NBA since 2009, and the department started its Ph.D. programme in 2014-15.
